Marjanishvili Theatre 'As You Like It' triumphs at Globe

Levan Tsuladze's delightful new production of Shakespeare's As You Like It in Georgian received a rapturous ovation after the first performance at the Globe to Globe World Shakespeare Festival. In a sparkling and atmospheric adaption by Lasha Bugadze, the pastoral comedy felt totally at home in the semi-open environment of the Globe theatre. The Arden forest was created simply by an ejaculation of colourful leaves which gracefully covered the raised area of the deliberately make-shift looking stage, providing a perfect setting for the great Georgian actress Nata Murvanidze, as melancholic Jaques, to deliver the 'all the world's a stage' monologue. Not to be missed. Last performance is Saturday 19th May at 7.30pm Globe Theatre.
